The application of PVD coatings on fine blanking dies offers significant advantages and can significantly improve the service life and productivity of the dies. As a physical vapour deposition technology, it provides an effective enhancement method for the surface treatment of fine blanking dies. This coating technology not only extends the service life of fine blanking moulds, but also reduces wear on the mould surface, whilst reducing the coefficient of friction and enhancing the surface sliding of the moulded material.
In addition, PVD coatings prevent corrosion that occurs during plastics processing, e.g. due to residual moisture in the particles, thanks to special features of the coating structure, such as greater coating density and the advantage of adjustable microscopic roughness, as well as greater resistance to oxidation and higher coating adhesion.
In practice, PVD coating technology has been widely used with good results in the fields of stretching dies, shear dies, aluminium alloy die casting dies and automotive cold heading dies.
